Meet Levi McConnell

Levi was born on September 16, 2008, on a full moon. From the moment he was born, he was the light in our lives. And a fighter from the beginning. An Air Force kid, Levi had lived in 3 states, including a fun 3 years in Germany. He never stopped saying “danke schön”. Gratitude was his signature strength, and he exemplified a grateful lifestyle. Levi loved Fortnight, Legos, Anime, and Polynesian dancing. He was incredible on the stage, but never wanted the solos. He loved sharing the spotlight. Levi was diagnosed with DMG while living in Colorado in July of 2020. We never told him that the doctors gave him 9-12 months to live. Not wanting to leave his 3 sisters, dog, and parents, he fought so hard to stay on Earth. Levi participated in Brainchild 3 at Seattle Children’s Hospital, 2 rounds of radiation, and a Selinexor trial in Colorado. We did everything. We practiced the basics of positive psychology to increase his quality of life and in return he was our greatest teacher. Levi taught us by how he lived his life. To love, forgive, have grace and above all, hope. When told that there was no cure, he said “NOT YET”. There is power in the ‘yet’. Levi the Conqueror and these beautiful souls will have built a legacy to improve treatment options, quality of life, and ultimately the cure. September 28, 2021, is when Levi joined the stars and until we are reunited, we will carry his stories through his sisters, his friends, his family and this precious community.
