Meet Leo Rhodes

Leo was one of the most bravest, loving, and positive little boys the world has ever met.  Leo always considered himself a real life superhero and enjoyed dressing up as Spiderman. In March of 2021, Leo was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Glioma at OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. The oncologist informed us of Leo’s devastating prognosis by informing us that Leo would only live 4-6 months. From that day, we decided to solely focus on providing Leo with quality of life and making new memories each day. We traveled to St. Jude for 28 rounds of radiation treatment, which is one of the only options for this devastating diagnosis. During his treatments at St. Jude, Leo noticed how sad everyone looked each day we were there. He requested to wear his Spiderman costume to bring joy and smiles to people’s faces. He did just that! He would pose like Spiderman, followed by a “God Bless you!” Leo did incredibly well after radiation until he experienced his first seizure in May of 2022. Leo spent the last month of his life at Children’s Center at Bethany getting round the clock care until he started to show symptoms of progression. On June 13, 2022 Leo passed away at OU Children’s Hospital surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly. We continue to honor Leo’s legacy by advocating for families fighting the similar battle we did.
