Meet Jayce Patrick Diaz

On August 6, 2019, our lives changed in a split second. Our incredible 5 yr. old Jayce wasn’t himself. He was unbalanced and experiencing headaches. We took him to the hospital and that is when our lives were forever changed. A CT Scan and MRI showed that our perfect little boy had a brain tumor on his brain stem called DIPG. To make matters so much worse, we were told that because of its location, they were unable to remove it, that it was not curable and was in fact terminal. His doctors told us he had 9-12 months to live. Words cannot express the pain that our family felt. It was as if our hearts were shattered into a million pieces, living a nightmare we could not wake up from. From the time he was born, Jayce had an old soul. We have never met anyone that Jayce had encountered that hadn’t been touched in some way. His infectious smiles, contagious laughs and witty sense of humor drew people to him like a magnet. He brought joy to everyone he met and had the kindest soul. His mere existence could light up a room. Jayce was a free spirit. He loved to dance, sing, paint, draw and most of all build. Jayce always expressed how much he wanted to be a “builder” when he grew up. LEGO was his specialty. Jayce loved and thrived on spending time with his family. On January 26, 2021, our beautiful boy gained his wings after a 17-month battle to DIPG. He was only 6 years old, 2 months shy of turning 7. To say he was a warrior is an understatement. He fought so hard through every obstacle set before him. He never gave up, always remained faithful and compassionate to others. Even in his darkest hours, he remained such a light and inspiration to this world. Despite all he endured, Jayce had a tremendous heart. He was selfless, always thinking about what he could do for others. He faced DIPG with a resilience and fortitude that inspires all who knew of him. He didn’t deserve this, no child does. We want the whole world to know Jayce and what an Angel he truly was and still is.
